Broken Window, Beaufort, South Carolina

This house used to be lived in. Someone must have sat by this window, reading the paper, watching TV, smoking a cigarette. Someone must have looked out this window, looking at the people who passed by. Maybe they looked in, wondering who this person or persons were. Maybe they knew them, nodded their heads hello, as they walked by on their way to wherever they were going. Someone must have decided to leave this house, to never return, to let it fall into disrepair, to turn their backs on its future. Every place has a history, every place has a past, someone who lived there, loved there, cared for it. Maybe they died, maybe they became to physically ill to continue to take care of the house, maybe they moved away because of a new job, a new love, or to be with their family.
